Puzzle games that don't waste your time
There's a difference between a puzzle game that makes you think and one that just makes you wait. The second kind is everywhere: slap a timer on it, gate progress behind a countdown, and call it difficulty. I've got no patience for it.
The good ones share a feeling — that satisfying moment where a solution clicks into place because you understood the system, not because you tapped fast enough. Those are the puzzles that stay with you after you close the app.
When reviewing a puzzle game I look for fair rules, no artificial energy limits, and a difficulty curve that teaches as it goes. If the game explains a mechanic and then builds a clever challenge around it, that's a good sign.
Play offline for an hour and notice how you feel afterwards. Relaxed and a bit clever? Keep it. Rushed and annoyed? Delete it and move on. Life's too short for stressful puzzles on a phone.
